Tolosa, Leyte, a municipality nestled along the northeastern coastline of Leyte Island, offers a compelling glimpse into the region’s geographical character. Situated 24 kilometers south of Tacloban City, it gazes eastward across the historically significant Leyte Gulf, encompassing a total land area of 2,171.5058 hectares. Specifically, Tolosa resides within the Eastern Visayas region (Region 8) at coordinates 11.21° N, 125.1° E. It shares borders with Tanauan to the north, Dulag to the south, Tabontabon to the west, and the vast Leyte Gulf to the east. Of its fifteen barangays, eight fringe the coastline, emphasizing its maritime connection. The municipality’s broader geographic context includes its location on Leyte Island, a landmass distinguished by its irregular shape and rugged mountain backbone, with Mount Lobi standing as its highest peak. A network of short streams flows through the area, draining into either Carigara Bay to the north or Leyte Gulf to the west. Tolosa is also within reach of several cities and municipalities, including Tacloban, Ormoc, Baybay, Borongan, Catbalogan, Maasin, Tanauan, Tabontabon, Dulag, Palo, Julita, and Dagami.
